In the UK, pharmacies are legally obliged to accept back unwanted medicines.

The pharmacy must sort them into solids (including ampoules and vials), liquids, and aerosols. The local NHS England team will then make arrangements for a waste contractor to pick up the medicines from pharmacies at regular intervals.

If you have a medication that you don’t need, the easiest way to do this is to return the medication to the most convenient local pharmacy - whether that’s near your home or work.

It’s also possible to mail the unwanted medication back to Echo.

To do so, you’ll need to mail us this form along with the medication. We can then dispose of it safely.
